Flood prevention measures
Mr Ivan Randall Chairman of the Rockbeare Flood Group has secured all the DEFRA money allocated to East Devon for flood prevention outside the big projects like Feniton and Ottery.The sum is £96,000 which is great news. Surveys are intended to start in about a month so work can be carried out next year. WELL DONE IVAN and thank you on behalf of everyone in the parish for your endless work on this and other matters.
FREE FRUIT AND VEGETABLES?
If any one is interested having an allotment, or the idea of making the Marsh Green Parish Field into a Forest Garden please can you contact Tracey Bell (Parish Clerk) on 01823 681138 or by email info@theoldkennels.co.uk. The Parish Council may be able to offer a new allotment site in the parish if there is sufficient interest.
WASTE NOT WANT NOT
Each year a large section of the sewer drains in Delia Gardens and beyond bome blocked solid and need to be jetted by South West Water. The cause is fat and oil being put down householders drains, this congeals in cold weather to cause a huge plug. Maybe you don’t have enough chip fat for your own bio diesel plant, but instead of wasting your leftover cooking fat, why not save it in a dish, adding nuts and seeds as you go, when chilled it makes fabulous bird food balls, also remember many large name brands of washing powder are nothing but animal fat perfumed to make you spend more - try using a vegetable soap based liquid such as Ecover or Suma to reduce the amount of fat going down your drains, its also less polluting to the environment.
This website has been designed and constructed to provide what the Parish Council hope will be a valuable resource, especially to find out more about what is happening within the Council and the wider Rockbeare community. As the site develops we hope it will become the local access point for information about the Parish Council and principal Local Authority Services and further advice on these services. Our 'Useful Links' page contains a number of links to websites that will be of interest to a wide range of residents.
We plan that it will be a further resource for community development and support through:
• involving local people more in what is happening in the village;
• improving communication;
• engaging everyone in local issues, through providing you with more information.
All within the parish we hope will share views and create positive change in what might be a fast changing world for us in the coming years.
To find more information within the site, use the navigation buttons on the left hand side of each page.
We also intend through the website to help us increase our links with the community. If you would like to advertise your event on the site, please contact the Parish Clerk.
